catholic men's fellowship

What are they?
Fellowship Groups for Men are comprised of men from parishes who gather together to discuss their lives in the light of their Catholic faith and to share their faith experiences through friendship, prayer and fraternity.

What happens at a Fellowship Group for Men meeting?
Men generally meet for 90 minutes to socialize, pray, discuss their faith, praise God and sing. They support, affirm and share insights about the difficulties men encounter in both their home and work lives. They also seek God's help in dealing with the issues they confront every day. We often discuss the weekly Catholic Men's Podcast. Members strive to reinforce Christian values with others in their group, and support other men who are struggling to do the same.

What will I gain from attending a Fellowship Group for Men?
Men have found that by attending a Fellowship Group for Men they make friends among their fellow parishioners, have fun, and learn from one another on how to be a better husband, father, son, employee and Catholic parishioner.  Men say they have grown by this experience which has enabled them to form stronger, happier families and marriages and have helped them to learn how to better cope with the inevitable stresses inherent in the workplace.

How can I become involved?
Contact Tom Lopus, 724-934-6446 (home) or 412-680-3779 (cell) or Brian Bove to find out more about this group that is currently meeting at Saints John and Paul in the downstairs hall on Saturdays at 7:00 AM.

Our Mission

The mission of the CMF is a response to the call made by Pope John Paul II, for a new evangelization, particularly the reinvigoration of faith among Catholics. Our mission is summarized as follows:

1. To raise awareness among Catholic men of their need to re-experience the spiritual awakening they originally received at their baptism, to nurture and deepen their ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit, so single and married men can accept their God-given roles as individuals in families, marriages, and churches (“Conversion”);

2. To encourage men to seek opportunities for faith-formation which may include forming or participating in a men's faith sharing group at the parish level and/or other forms of catechesis (“Formation”); and

3. To affirm and encourage our clergy while enthusiastically a) encouraging men to recognize their healing potential for our Church through their chosen vocation, religious or otherwise and b) teaching men how to pro-actively support their Catholic faith at the family, parish, and community levels. (“Mobilization”)
