A Reminder For…
Confirmation Candidates and Parents
SS John & Paul Parish's Confirmation Meeting for both parents and candidates (students entering grade 9 in Fall 2009) will be held on Tuesday, February 24th, at 7:30 PM in the Church. At this meeting you will learn about the Sacrament of Confirmation and our preparation process, including weekly classes and the alternate Home-Study Model.

Please note that this meeting is a required part of our Confirmation Preparation process for both parent and child -- Please attend if at all possible. For those who cannot attend, call Kate at 724-935-2104, extension 23, to arrange a make-up meeting.

Confirmation Preparation Models
There are two Confirmation Preparation models to choose from.  To select your preparation model and service project, complete this form.

Weekly Classes – Beginning on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, students will attend FIVE weeks of Confirmation preparation classes from 6:30 – 8:00 PM in the downstairs hall.   Candidates are required to attend all FIVE classes.  Class dates are 04/15/09, 04/22/09, 04/29/09, 05/13/09 & 5/27/09 (there will be no classes on 5/6 & 5/20).

The curriculum includes a Bishop Wuerl video, activities, small group discussion, and prayer experiences.

Home-Study – For those students who are unable to commit to 5 weeks of classes. In this preparation model, students watch the Bishop Wuerl video at home on their own schedule, complete & return the student booklet. In addition to the videos, students are required to attend a ONE day retreat at Gilmary. The Gilmary Retreat is being held on:

• Saturday, June 20th  - Candidates will meet at Saints John and Paul at 9 AM & candidates will be bussed to Gilmary for their retreat experience and will  end the day celebrating the 5:00 PM Mass at Saints John and Paul.

Registrations
Registrations for a Confirmation preparation model WILL NOT be accepted until the Candidate and Parent meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 24th, at 7:30 PM. Please come prepared to register for either the Weekly Classes or the Home-Study model at that time. Registration forms will be distributed during the meeting.  There is a Confirmation fee that should accompany the registration form. Please note that NO candidate will be turned away in the event of financial hardships. Please see Kate Bianco for further information.

Confirmation Service Project
Choose from one of the hands-on projects offered by the parish, or design your own project (must be approved and meet certain specifications).

Catholic School Families
PLEASE NOTE:  Parents of Catholic School students who wish to receive Confirmation at our parish, should call the Faith Formation Office. 

Also, adults and older teens who missed out on Confirmation may also be able to prepare for and receive Confirmation in the Fall.  Please call Kate at Ext. 23 for details.
