Prayer Shawl Ministry

What We Do: The Prayer Shawl Ministry provides a tangible expression of the parish’s love and support for ill, grieving, and otherwise troubled recipients in the form of a blessed handmade shawl. A label identifying the parish group and a Miraculous Medal are sewn to the prayer shawls (except for infants due to safety concerns) and a personal note from the shawl maker expressing concern for the recipient is included in the package.

When We Meet: The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets nine times a year at 10:00 AM on the second Tuesday of the months January-June and September-November in the Cardinal DiNardo Center (CDC). The meeting is primarily for social reasons and most of the ministry’s work is done at home. Members provide help and support to one another, improving skills and sharing patterns.

What You Can Do: Join us at our meetings! We welcome all parishioners or friends who are willing and able to make handmade shawls, quilts, lap robes, baby blankets, hats, etc. If you cannot sew, you can donate! Donations of yarn or gift cards to yarn stores are always needed. Even the smallest amount of unused yarn (washable and NOT wool) is helpful.
